This is my least favorite NAPCast blog EVER. Why? Because it means that vacation time is ABSOLUTELY over, and my dreams didn’t come true because I didn’t win the Mega Millions so I could stay on vacay FOREVER. I should have just taken my work laptop and set up my workspace in a hipstery coffee shop for a few more weeks, bosses never would have known And just so you can all rest your minds, we even carved out time in our getaway to hit up the dnb scene of Sacramento while we were in town. A proper addition to the Junglist Journey log book, the Bass-Sick monthly at The Golden Bear felt a lot like our monthly at The Mel, only backwards – House in the front bar, DNB in the back – and full of thick heady vibes with chill AF folk. If you’re in the Sacramento area and looking for spot to get your dance on, I highly recommend hitting this place out.
A welcome pleasure to come back to this week is a sweet little set from a recent Mel visitor, Hajimari! If you’ve been following his production career (as you should be, DUH) then you’ll dig the upcoming chunes he pumped into this quick fix. I was particularly excited to see a Changing Faces track in this setlist. She’s been making big moves over on Soulvent Records and nothing makes me happier than female DJs getting the recognition they deserve. Things that also make me happy are back to back Ivy Lab songs with a splash of solo Halogenix for good measure. Hajimari put together a solid 30ish minutes of weird and techy mashed up with grinding heavy rollers that are doing their damndest to set me up proper for the week. Vacation might be a thing of the past, but he’s got me vibin’ for the future inside here!
