Pop quiz: What do you get when you mash up a jungle classic and two different Kanye West songs? You get the Dark Lord of dance floor, JIN-XS! And that's just in the first ten minutes guise, I hope you're prepared for what the next hour will hold for you. Your ears are going to get a sonic lesson in how all things music can be made into one magnificent unified set.
For those of you not familiar with the master that is Jin-XS, I'm really excited that this will be your first taste. He's brought all the jungle-y, grooved out, hip hopped goodness to the NAPCast and for me, it will be on repeat (as usual) for a long time. This is one of Indy's most gifted talents and someone who has supported the scene in all it's various incantations over the years. His heart and mind are dedicated to his craft and its exemplified in every set, however this one is a gem. While he's throwing down jungle for us, tomorrow he could quite possibly playing an all hip hop set and then industrial the next night. And those are certainly not his limits. If Jin-XS can make it his own, he will do it flawlessly. Nobody else digs as deep to cut even the smallest sample from a movie or song to incorporate into the overall theme of a set. It's truly inspiring to know that what you're hearing has been given hours of thought and practice to perfect for you to enjoy.
Every time he releases a new mix or tune I too am thinking "hey you, what's this trick??!" because I can't believe he just made two widely different genres of music play together like they were made that way. All the classics, old and new, have you jumping out of your seat and onto the dance floor for this guy. If you haven't caught a Jin-XS set yet, or in a while, let this week's NAPCast get you hyped for August 11th, when we start back at The Mel for our monthly DNB event. He'll be headlining, so go ahead and call yourselves into work late (or off completely) now because you're gonna be glued to the dance floor. I promise you, you don't want to sleep on this guy or the night.
