Rise and Shine ya Filthy Animals! It's Monday, time to get that weekly transfusion of drum and bass to replenish dat ass thru another work cycle! Last week was a special one for as we welcomed long running local Indy DJ Rudy Kizer to the decks at the MEL. Although adulting got in the way of my personal attendance, thick vibes were in the building all night long as Rudy, Cory James, and Hugh Jeffner all slayed the stage. Christian Martin came to town, and coaxed into dropping some dirty dnb on Thursday night by our beloved Courtney, resulting in ear to ear grins and one sweaty RinTin. Meanwhile t'was announced that the POTD Reunion tour will be stopping in Indy this summer. All and all it was a win week for DnB in da N-A-P town.
I took my spawns to Chicago this weekend to see the Field Museum on goal of injecting more culture into their impressionable minds. As I walked the exhibits of Mass Extinctions, and realized just how many times this has happened, what a blink our existence truly is... it dawned upon me.... We need more Napcasts! This city is a network of talented individuals that pay homage to the drums, so press record and get submit sumthin son, hassle any acquaintance who's hiding dem skills, make an impact with music before we get an impact from comets! Just sayin' there's only a limited amount of time left before a meteorite smashes and vaporizes use into clouds of apparitions... the time to be huurrd is now!!
Now that you remember we are all doomed, its time to get down to biz. This mix comes hot off the press - Rudy Kizer's Set from the Mel last week! Rudy been around a long time, perhaps survived an extinction. He has been making and impact on Electronica in Indy for decades, playing alongside acts like Infected Mushroom, Crystal Method, Paul Van Dyke, and Dieselboy to name a few. Rudy also hosted the "Hit the Decks" Radio show in the 2000s where he interviewed names like Hawtin, Carl Cox, and Fatboy Slim, and is one of the individuals that has truly made his mark here on Earth. This set has a lot of variety, and most of all - energy. Rudy whisks us on a hour and a half drum and bass journey thru liquid, classics, covers, jungle, and some damn dirty basslines. It's definitely a privilege to have Rudy Kizer delivering some fire for this week's cast of the Nap!
