Gangstas what uuuuup?! I wish I could say I am psyched to get into that work-life gear this Monday, but I am definitely riding shotgun on the struggle bus after such a fun weekend of birthday festivities. GOLDIE in Chicago on Friday, new tattoo Saturday, man, it doesn't get much better. Needless to say, I have a lot of feelings about having to go back to the office and not still snuggled up in bed. Antik One also had some leftover feeling about driving in downtown Chicago on a Friday at peak rush hour, when you don't really know where you're going. Talk about the wrong way to start a night out on the town. Whoever developed underground parking garages with no clear signage needs to be fired. With some time to reflect on his experience, Antik let the decks have it with some serious bidniss.
Although not the terrorcore I would have expected, he definitely put his speakers through a pounding with big tunes like "From Early" by Fracture and Chimpo (as well Fracture's own reduction mix) and "Tribal Punishment" by Drum Cypha. Anik One recently fell in love with the new Talisman EP from Whiney so he threw three tunes in here for good measure with "Flashlight" featuring Inja, "Last Contact" and "Rock Hopper". No complaints here, because the EP is absolutely fire. When Antik was ready to take it darker he came with Toe Tagger by Co:Lateral and rinsed it out proper. Feeling a bit inspired by the incredible set we got from Goldie on Friday, he also drops the Metalheadz with Kid Drama's Whole Train. And no Antik One set is ever really complete without a touch of the other major influence in his life, Reggae so we got the dope "Real Apache Style" feat Tomahawk by Jstar. So while I might not want to be staring at a computer screen today, at least I can relisten to this mix and have a tiny taste of my weekend back. Meh. Monday. Boo. If you're having a lame-o Monday I hope this does the trick for you too!
