Happy Monday junglists! Hollow Point here to deliver you a brand new NAPCast to get you over those Monday blues. Courtney has taken the week off from blog duties as she spent her weekend catching the US leg of the Hospitality tour featuring Nu:Tone, Metrik, Reso, and Dynamite MC in Buffalo, NY with some of the NAP DNB family. Lucky girl.
Anywhooo...this week we've got a great liquid drum & bass mix from a very underrated DJ that we're very lucky to have on the NAP DNB roster as well as here in Indianapolis, Sea Monkey. A true vinyl junkie, this curator has quietly been involved with just about every group throwing events in Indianapolis and there's no surprise why. This guy brings the vibes. Whether it's deep downtempo, jazzy 2-step, classic breakbeats, or drum & bass, Sea Monkey knows his stuff. More than that, if you've been to a Broke(n) Thursday event in the last couple of years, you have this man to thank for setting up equipment, perfecting the levels, and bringing the soundsystem that many of the biggest names in town have used to their advantage. He's the guy who's at the venue before you and leaves after you're gone and in bed. That kind of dedication to local electronic music, while often gone unnoticed, has helped carry and shape our scene to this day. Add in the fact that he's the king of mix archives and you'll soon understand his curator status. Still not convinced? Here's a picture from the archives of Sea Monkey tending to the stage when Hospital Records label head honcho Tony Coleman (aka London Elektricity) came to play way back in 2007:
Getting back to the mix, Sea Monkey has whipped up a smooth liquid drum & bass set for us that's sure to please even the most cantankerous of ears. All you need to do is just press play and enjoy!
