Hoooolllyy crap, fam, it’s about to go down!! Seriously. Tomorrow. Did you forget!?!? Oooof course you didn’t. I am SOOO excited to do birthday celebrations for Gizz and HP BIG time with none other than mutha fuggin’ RANDOM MOVEMENT!!! 12 quarters is all it takes to get a piece of the action, so don’t let this one pass you by! Call in late Wednesday, or sick all together, QUIT YER JERB!!! YOU CAN DO IT!! Todays post also comes with a bit of bittersweet news for some of ya – this will be my last official post for the NAPCast. After 200 some-odd times around the block with this, it feels right to pass along to torch. Fresh ears on these mixes is a good thing and I’m pretty sure that my successor, RinTin, knows a thing or two about these bleep bloops y’all keep listening to. Writing these posts every week has given me a lot to be thankful for: In its own little way, the NAPCast is about giving back to a culture that’s shaped us both collectively and individually. I don’t make or play tunes, and dancing isn’t permanent, but writing about the stuff I dig is something I’ve always loved to do. I still don’t really know what I’m talking about, but for some reason people keep telling me they like what they’re reading. To all you weirdos, I love you lots of bunches and appreciate all the support over the years. You’re the ones who truly made me feel like the letters that went on the page made an impact and that I could say I was authentically contributing to the DNB community in a positive way. This doesn’t mean I’m totally done trying to push the dance music community forward here in Naptown. Oh no my friends, ya girl has big plans behind the scenes that I hope will generate a curiosity and appreciation for the culture here in our fair city beyond those of us currently living and breathing it daily. More to come on this exciting adventure hopefully sooner than later!
NAPCast 225 is more fresh meat for you hungry masses; to wet your whistle before next week when we throw Rin Tin to ya Comin’ to us from Austria, Hertenfels is a somewhat new comer to the DNB life, having just discovered his real love of it in 2014, but spent his youth DJing Industrial type nights. His introduction to DNB came by way of Camo and Krooked (not a bad way to start), and you can definitely hear their influence (and tunes) in this mix. I wasn’t sure this would be my favorite simply because he states in his bio that when DJing as Hertenfels he normally plays harder type dnb. I was honestly surprised that he kept a solid balance of neuro/techstep/jump-up with little bits of liquid and funky breaks scattered about. Another one of those times when I need a track list b/c I am LOOOOVING the tunes at 52:--53:00. Now is when I need the community to do ITS part and ID that track for meeee! Plz and thnx <3 As my final parting piece of advice, I strongly urge you to let this mix pump you ALL the way up and then bring all that hype to dance with us for Random Movement!!
